Beavers Virtual Spring Camp

Although we can’t go away this year as normal we can still have our Beaver sleepover! We were planning to go from late afternoon on Friday 22 May until late afternoon Saturday 23 May so it would be nice to do it then so we can be doing activities at the same time but you can do the sleepover whenever suits you and your family.

We normally sleep in a hut but if you want to pitch a tent and sleep outside then feel free. Below is a suggested programme based on what we usually do and have to eat but you can be flexible and do what suits you based on your circumstances and what is available to you. We want the Beavers to have FUN!!!

Please let us know how you got on and send us photos.

Please be careful when doing the activities and ensure that your child is supervised so that they have fun and stay safe. If they have any allergies then please adjust the activity.

Beavers Camp Timetable
Friday, 22 May
4:30pm
Set up camp – build a den or pitch your tent
Build a den where you will sleep tonight. You could do this using blankets draped over chairs. Make sure it is nice and cosy. When it is built, lay out your sleeping bag and pillow. Maybe put out some cuddly toys for company. You may want to sleep on a carry mat so it is softer.
5:30pmHelp cook dinner
We have spaghetti bolognaise for dinner followed by fruit and Swiss roll. For pudding it is s’mores which you can cook with an adult on a BBQ or your campfire (toast a marshmallow and put between 2 chocolate digestives). If you are inside, you could toast the marshmallow over a candle. Again, make sure an adult is supervising.
7:00pmHelp wash up then play
Pick an activity and set your personal best record for it. Some suggestions are: keepie uppies, hula hooping, bouncing a ball, skipping with a rope or hitting a badminton rally. Let us know what you manage
8:00pmCampfire
You can have this outside or have a pretend campfire inside by putting a torch under a plastic Sainsbury’s bag. Sing some of the campfire songs you have learnt in the week and drink hot chocolate. When it gets dark you can make shadow puppets on the wall or side of the tent (see shadow puppet attachment)
9:00pmBedtime
Saturday, 23 May
9:30amObstacle Course
After breakfast, we are going to make an obstacle course (inside or out)which you can have a go on with your family. You could try guiding someone round who is blindfolded. Then have a snack.
11:00amPioneering -Build a tower
See how high you can build a tower. You can use spaghetti and marshallows (the large ones) using this link for instructions or you can use Lego or perhaps cardboard boxes/cushions.
Send in a photo with your cuddly toy beside it so we have a sense of scale.
12:00pmLunch
1:00pmTime for a Hike!
Now is the chance to follow the route you planned during the week. Don’t forget to take a drink and a snack and sunhat/suncream or coat depending on the weather. You could do the scavenger hunt on your walk (see attached) If you can’t go outside why not have a go at the indoor scavenger hunt and draw a picture of where you would like to go on a day out…i.e the seaside or a castle When you get back, it is time for a drink and a biscuit and to take down your den/tent
