[6] Nature Spotting

Hello Beavers, Hope you are all doing well! Well done to those of you who got certificates for completing 4 of the 7th Epsom at Home Activities so far and for those of you who haven’t yet received one, you will upon completing your fourth activity.

For this week’s activity you will be doing Nature Spotting! This activity is flexible so don’t worry if you can’t leave the house.

Your task is this:

See if you can point out and name at least 5 different types of animal, insect, bird or fish that you might find near where you live. You can see if you can spot them when you are on your daily walk, looking in your garden or by looking out of your window if you can’t go out.

For example on my walk today I saw a deer, some Canadian geese having a fight and a red admiral butterfly. As we can’t go far, there are also some websites which have webcams showing live footage of wildlife such as:

The Wildlife Trust – www.wildlifetrusts.org/webcams

You may want to look at these if you can’t go out or have previously spotted local wildlife and want to see what else there is across the country.

Whatever you do, you can send in a list of what you have seen and for each one a photo or drawing and 1 interesting fact.

This will count towards the My Outdoors Challenge and if you go on a walk specifically to do this it will count towards the My Adventure Challenge.

Have fun! and i look forward to hearing what you have spotted!
